The ideal line off the 1st Shore is just to the left of the right hand fairway bunkers, be careful not to venture too far left as another bunker waits for the hooked tee shot. The second shot with a mid iron is struck towards a slightly elevated green that falls off steeply left of the green.

The par 5 second is an excellent birdie opportunity, teeing off beside the sea the player ideally aims for the right side of the fairway. Once the player has negotiated the tee shot you have a choice of whether to carry the cross bunkers and go for the green or lay up short and leave a pitch to the green. This green has two parts to it, the raised left hand portion which has a small tier which needs an accurate shot to hold it. The right hand side of the green is far more accommodating and when the flag is positioned here the golfer has a great chance of a birdie.

A short par 3 which requires an accurate tee shot, the golfer must be wary of the deep pot bunker on the left front off the green, again this cleverly set green has a small tier on the right and a flatter portion to the left. The golfer who misses the green to the right leaves himself a blind pitch to the elevated green above.

Anthony Tarchetti Head Professional, "this is my favourite hole on Prince's. The tee shot which normally plays into the prevailing wind is best placed on the flatter right hand side of the fairway. From here the player must place his ball on the correct level on this well protected green with deep bunkers guarding the front and a steep run off area at the back, it is not a hole to take lightly".

This par 4 heads back towards the fence with Royal St Georges, the player's line is for the Old Clubhouse, this will leave a short iron to a deep raised green. The green which slopes towards the player is inviting to hit into but if missed the ball will run off from all sides leaving a difficult up and down.

The middle tower in the distance is the ideal line for this tee shot, from here the player is faced with an uphill second shot to a green set on top of the dune. The player must keep his second shot to the left as the ball will feed back to the middle of the green. Any shot landing on the right side of this green will roll off down the steep slope protecting it.

A beautifully designed par 5 starts with an elevated tee shot so the player must decide their strategy early, with the option of either laying up to a small landing area or going for the carry of the cross bunkers. The wind, which is normally at the players back, pushes the ball towards the bunkers and to the right hand rough. The player is then left with a formidable second shot, ideally the player should lay up to the right side of the fairway to give a full view of the green, which slopes right to left.

The par 3 eighth has a devilishly difficult green, so the player should aim for the front right portion as this will let the ball feed back to the middle of the green. The wind direction which normally sweeps in from the right will push the ball towards the deep bunker and grassy pits to the left of the green.

A tee shot aimed at the far flagpole is the perfect line for this par 4 heading back towards the clubhouse. This fairway which rarely affords an even lie shoots the ball both to the left and right if the tee shot is not positioned in the middle. The second shot with a mid iron is played to a generous green which has a swale for protection on the front right corner.
